DESCRIPTION:

The Utility Permit Manager is a vital role within our organization, responsible for overseeing permitting and land use entitlements while coordinating with regulatory agencies. Reporting to the Director of Construction Management, this position requires exceptional organizational, communication, decision-making, problem-solving, analytical, and time management skills. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, adept at managing multiple projects and providing support for business development initiatives.

Roles and Responsibilities: 

  • As the Permitting Manager, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful execution, delivery, and hand-off of projects to construction teams. Your key responsibilities will include:

    • Securing permits for fiber optic facilities across various local, state, and federal jurisdictions within the United States.

    • Managing technical and environmental studies related to fiber optic construction

    • Collaborating with local, state, and federal permitting agencies to ensure project success while understanding and addressing project constraints.

    • Maintaining project timelines and budgets.

    • Providing ongoing support to Project Managers (PMs) and Construction Managers (CMs) throughout the construction process following project permitting.

    • Offering expertise on permitting and environmental compliance during both the construction and operation phases of projects.

Qualifications:

  • A proven track record of at least 5 years in permitting expertise, preferably within the utility industry.

  • Familiarity with city, county, state, and other federal permitting processes, such as BLM and USBR.

  • Strong project and case management skills, including the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Knowledge of fiber optic construction processes.

  • Proficiency in ESRI ArcGIS and Google Earth is preferred.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management software.

  • Self-starter who is self-reliant and capable of working with minimal supervision.
